RT2 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 hey guys, my chipset's temp is 55c idle and more then 60c(!) on full load! fan blowing at max speed..should i leave it that way? i dont wanna remove the motherboard from the pc in order to put a better thermal compound..maybe thats some setting in the bios? i'm on default voltage there.. thanks! soundx98 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Think you'll be OK at those temps. Probably the Arctic Silencer on the blockin some air flow. Might want to try a lil fan blowing in the area. Especially if you are unwilling to remove the motherboard, cause thats a necessity if you are taking the Chipset fan off. Other temps OK? Like CPU? soundx98 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 If you are only at 40 full load at 260x10 thank your lucky stars and forget about the chipset temp.
gbomb944 Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I noticed that when I turned on the nvmonitor that came with the system it was alarming when the chipset was at 44c. I don't know the exact tolerances for the nb but if the nvidia monitor was beeping at me and nvidia makes the chipset it must be too hot. I put a 120mm blowing across the bottom of the board pointed mostly at the chipset and the temps went down 10c. At least now I don't have to worry about it.
