nf3 no internet?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have the latest nforce drivers and I am trying to get this board to work on a Dlink DI-604 router with no success. I also tried to just connect throught the modem so that also doesn't work. So is there anything I forgot, like a bios setting? I enabled/disabled practically anything but nothing works, please help!!!

Enable ethernet in the bios, by default it is off.

I see you're using 250gb and your ram is set to 2.5-3-3-5. See that last number should be a 10. Search the forum why but it yeilds better results for this board.

I looked in bios for ethernet to enable it and there is no setting that is worded like thet. The closest i can find is Mac (Lan) and that is set to Auto by default. Can you please point me to where that is?Thanks.

I have the same problem as well, and this is the second DFI NF3 board that has done this to me. I finally gave up and just bought a $10 PCI ethernet card and it works great. Seems like a lot of people have this problem.

By default the MAC address is set to disabled. Look on the AGP port and there will be 2 stickers with a MAC address on them , one of them is for the nforce card enter that into the bios when you enable MAC address and that will get the card connected and working.

You must then install the Forceware software that came with the CD and turn off Checksom Offload under network/ethernet if you have a problem with connection stability.

I have mine set for 100mb full duplex and the network address entered in the properties page of the Nvidia networking controller as well. works for me! do not install the Nvidia firewall software as it is a pain even though that worked for me as well. if you have a router it most probably have a firewall built in. if not use outpost firewall found free on the net.

Like previous posters have stated, you need to enter the MAC address in for the onboard NIC. The easiest way to tell if you do is to go to:

Start --> Run --> type in CMD

At the prompt type ipconfig -all

This will pull up the settings for all of the NICs in your machine, it will look like this:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapt

er(LNE100TX v4)

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-06-25-05-90-88

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hsd1.co.comcast.net.

Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-50-F2-6E-5F-D1

Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes

Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.103

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Wednesday, May 18, 2005 3:01:37 AM

Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Wednesday, May 25, 2005 3:01:37 AM

Next, look at the lines labeled "Physical Address" if it has FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF after it, then you will need to enter the MAC address in manually.

Note: If you can't find the MAC for your onboard NIC, you can enter the MAC off an unused peice of networking equipment, I.E. a router, switch, NIC, but not a HUB. And if you have a hub in your network, throw it away and go get a cheap switch =D

P.S. I am using a DI-624 and have no problems at all.
