Constant rebooting on DFI nf4 Ultra-D

Recommended Posts

I actually didn't have to tweak it to pass memtest. 1 stick would pass on optomized settings no problem, without any tweaking at all. So, for now I am not focusing on RAM as much...

Me too. Your problems sound just like mine.

My memory is in the mail so I can't check rev.

Well, how many Amps are on the 12V line of that PSU. It's not the wattage, as I am using a 400W Seasonic with my A64 setup.

@Wired:

Part: CMX512-3200C2

Rev.: 1.2

@Bonesdad:

Well, a meager 18A. I suppose that is most likely the problem.

Fortron will be here on Thursday at the latest. Will post back then.

OK, well after much troubleshooting it turns out the problem was neither the RAM nor the power supply, it was simply incompatibilities with Windows XP 64-bit edition. My God, I really can't stand this...

I can't install my school's antivirus program because when it tries to "Start services..." it forces my computer into a reboot cycle. I can't install my current favorite game, Rome: Total War because there is an "unspecified error." I can't install Intellimouse 5.0 because it is "incompatibile with the 64 bit platform." 64-bit Internet Explorer is twice as slow as normal IE. Basically, all I have running right now are AIM and Microsoft Anti-Spyware. Cripes!

Looks like I'm going to have to go out and but Windows now....wasting another $100.

On a side note, do you guys use 64 bit Windows? Have you run into the same problems as me? When Microsoft came to my school and talked about 64 bit Windows they said it would run all my old 32 bit programs, but boy were they wrong. Maybe I'm just unlucky? What are your guys' experiences like? Additionally, if I have a Windows XP Upgrade CD that came with my old Dell, could I just get an old copy of Windows 98 and upgrade to XP? I know it won't let me install the Dell version of Windows ME, but this CD has no Dell labels on it anywhere. Can I get away with not spending another $100 on this machine?

Thanks guys for all your help...I'm now running a Fortron 500W Blue Storm PSU! Time to swap out the blue LED fan from my old PSU and put it in this bad boy... :-)
