Genesis Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 hi there! I've got a problem with my Centurion 5 case front panel audio. It seems I have 2 L-Outs and 2-R-outs. Is one of the the return? They originate from the same wire and the second l-out and r-out comes out of the first pin. I'm really confused. Also, is it possible for the mic and headphone jacks at the front of the computer to take over from the back jacks when a headphone and mic are plugged in? I know it sounds really muddled and I'm really sorry for that.
red930 Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Sounds like you are going to have to hope someone has the exact case or contact tech support on this one. If you take a picture(very clear and well lit) of the mobo end of the cable, there is a chance someone can help you figure it out. Connector Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Genesis, I had the exact problem your describing on my case, I think. There was one pair of L/R wires running from the front panel to the motherboard, dividing up into two pairs of L/R wires at the end of the cable. I plugged the first pair of L/R pins into the appropriate 'front-out' pins of the motherboard, the other pair into the 'return pins'. Sorry I don't know the correct names of the motherboard header pins, I don't have the manual at hand. With this setup, you will have a signal coming out of the front panel (or headphone) and backside (or line-out) plugs as well. The more smart way of switching off the back signal when headphones are plugged into the front panel (as it is on most stereo amplifiers) will not work. It's a mistake in the design of the front panel wiring, I suppose. The microphone signal is not affected by this issue, but only one mic-in plug (front or back) can work at a time. This can be set with the windows or nvidia mixer. If you have some more questions, post again. I hope it helps, Connector
