jtc_hunter Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 The question has to to w/ voltage. Now, from what I have read, it is not advisable to run my 3000+Winchester above 1.65v. The question is which reportable setting? In my bios, I have the CPU Vid Control at 1.475, Cpu Vid Special ontrol is set at Above Vid 110%. The bios says my CPU voltage is 1.60v. In Windows , SmartGuardian says 1.58v, and CPU-Z says 1.584v. So, which number should I go by as far as keeping it under the advised 1.65v? The other question is, even when I had the CPU-Z reported voltage at 1.7v, my cpu temp never went over 32c. I have very good cooling. So even if my temps are low, should I not go over the advised 1.65v?
spdiscus Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Trust what you set in the BIOS. If you set [email protected], assume that's what you're running. You won't always get accurate readings from software. Is that 32C at full load? If so, I'm impressed, and I'd be tempted to keep pushing the voltage. demonR6 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 32c at idle? What about the load temp after about five or so minutes of Prime95? I run idle at about 33-34c with 1.425 SVID 123%, as soon as I run SuperPi or Prime95 it heats up pretty quick.
jtc_hunter Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 So the "real" voltage is after the 110%? Yes, I am a fanatic about cooling hardware. The XP-90,w/ ceramique, a Thermaltake 92mm fan, 5-80mm case fans( 2-in, 2out, 1-side) and front 5.25" bay fan controller by PC Toys. All in an aluminum case. After 1 hour straight of HL2, max cpu load temp 32c, idle temp right now 24c.
soundx98 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I don't know if I believe that multiplier to be 100% accurate either. even if it was a 1.625 calculated at 1.6v reading is only off 1.5%. pretty small difference.
