gordesky1 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 will this do the job? http://www.coolerstar.com/thermalsensor.html
Smoken Joe Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I was talking about the mounting plate behind the motherboard. I am assuming there is one like on the Ultra D. I was hoping someone who had this board would chime in. Did you take the mounting bracket off too if you do not have near perfect contact with the IHS you are going to het bad results. Nearly no one bothers directly measuring the temps unless you do it perfectly your results are going to be no more accurate than the bios and that is no easy job! The screws into the board should not move if they do fix it then you need to screw in the heatsink so it doesnt move too which should not be hard if the board screws dont move. The board can take a lot of pressure you should see some of the huge sheatsinks people use. I will let you look up the specs the DFI site is too slow for me right now to find the real specs. on pressure.
gordesky1 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 ya i took the bracket off than put the one from the one that came from the zalman. and the 2nd time i took the zalman off too put the as5 on. 1 screw was real loose i thought that why my temp was so high befor i tried as5. i tighted them. and today when i check they were still tight so i dont know whats my problem is:( all i could think of is the cpu temp thing in the mb is way off or something. thats why i ask about the thermal probe. Smoken Joe Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 but my idel temps seems pretty good i think 34 too 37 just not the load temp If it is stable and mounted right dont sweat it then. I was in the high 40-50's runnign FAH on my P4 for years with no damage that is with two diffrent MB's. Run the stability benchmarks and if it passes forget it. Garsh Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 is this true if i remove the heat speader. will it help my cooling? or is it not worth it. i just dont get it why it gets hot right now i went lower 2.43ghz 1.55vcore and my temp is still pretty high load temp that is 53 too 54. I can't advise removing the heat spreader but I can say that mine came off when i removed my heatsink and the paste on the top of the chip was quite thick and not evenly applied. By recoating with ceramique my displayed load temps droped 10-15 degrees! Paul
gordesky1 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 man if i could drop that much even 5 too 10 i be happy. what is you load temps temp now and befor?
Smoken Joe Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Dont take off the intigrated heat spreader unless you are very very sure of your mount. Mine doesnt like to get over 60 either.
Garsh Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 man if i could drop that much even 5 too 10 i be happy. what is you load temps temp now and befor? load temp initially was about 62ish running with the case side off (only 40 on temp probe attached to heat spreader) now max is 44 after an hour of cpu burn in or prime 95 with case side on and temp probe still at 40degrees.
