gordesky1 Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 i just got my zalman 7000 with the blue led. and it doesint seem like it change in temp from my stock cooler that i had a 80mm 5000rpm fan on it? shouldint the zalman be alot better? right now its hiting 60 at 2.58 1.61vcore. the stock cooler was the same way. my idel temps are pretty good 37 too 39 at 1.61vcore 2.58ghz. but i dont get the load temp. i was hopeing it will be atleast 50 or lower. spdiscus Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 1.61's high, but not too high for that cooler. Are you sure it's seated properly? I'd suggest popping it off, cleaning off both the CPU and HS, and reapplying some AS5 (or equivalent). Those temps should have gone down. Prostock62 Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 I agree with Spdicus,60 is still in the safe range but it seems a little high for your setup.I would take it off and reaply AS5 and reset it.
gordesky1 Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 i got the stock paste on now. and its at 55 too 56 load. i had this stuff on it http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-100-009&depa=0 but that was hiting 55 too 60 still. is that cermiq the same as as5? and is this what you talking about? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-100-007&depa=
ScYcS Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 AS5 or AS3 will make a difference. Make sure you only use a slight film of the stuff and don't apply too much since this will hurt the cooling performance.
gordesky1 Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 that cermiq stuff aint the same right?
VectorTensor Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 You will see alot better results with AS5... I dropped my 7000 in using cermique and wasnt pleased, so i tried AS5 and had 10c drop in temps from stock heat sink  Also it takes over 200 hrs PLUS for AS5 to set completly... sesiom Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 YEAH! I also used AS5. It´s great. Mine never go up 30º C in bios. Great stuff these Zalman´s coolers. I'm very happy!
gordesky1 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 are they the same? http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/arsi5thco12g.html http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-100-008&depa=0? im thinking of buying it from newegg
spdiscus Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Yep. Same thing. AS5 comes in a few different size tubes. I bought a smaller tube (3.5 or 5, don't remember), and it's given me 4 or 5 applications, so far.
gordesky1 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 i just order the paste. when i get it and put it on. do i do it like the website says? http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_...ctions_big2.htm
Hemidare Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 just an uncooked rice dollop and dont spread it out. just seat the cooler and it will spread it out itself! That is the method i use! Works great for me.
