Trouble Ocing 1700+

Recommended Posts

Heres my setup:

System: Asus A7N8X deluxe (rev 2.0) c1005 bios. Athlon XP 1700+ JIUHB DLT3C 0307 running at 2.2Ghz(200Mhz FSB/11X mult/FSB spread spectrum Disabled/1.65vcore). Antec 350 watt Smart Power PSU.

Havent had a chance to run prime95 (or other tests) on it for more than a couple of hours but it seems stable in this configuration. Problem is it seems to run a bit hot and I dont want to invest any more money in cooling. In order to decrease temperature I wanted to decrease my operating speed a little by trying multipliers of 10.5, and 10. I dont want to decrease my FSB because it matches my DDR400 nicely.

The issue: board will not POST when FSB is 200Mhz with multipliers of 10.5x, or 10x, but will post at 9.5x and 11x. Seems weird that I can run at 11x but not in the 10's.

Anybody have a suggestion as to how to get this thing to post at 10 or 10.5? Is this just something weird with the nforce2 chipset? One data point: I do notice that the board will POST at 10.5x if I set the FSB to 166Mhz.

Any suggestions would be appreciated
