stone_cold_Jimi Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 This ram is definitely TOP SHELF when it works, and I am definitely going to make it last as long as I can, at the highest stretch over stock speeds I can too. I will not abuse it though, and I know enough to back off before I break something. +1 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38215
NeilSouth Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Looking at this thread, and especially at the loudest complainers, who also mostly happen to be UNDERCLOCKING their ram, really amazes me, since this ram is so expensive in the first place. er no, just me and one other it's happened to people who under volted , normaly voted... overclocked , underclocked , default... different boards. System wouldnt boot this morning at 2.5 3 3 10 , though it worked for 2hrs last night  so trying 3 2 2 10 232mhz
NeilSouth Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Btw, i cant get the ram to run at 280mhz 2.8 volts just freezes at the ram check screen before windows loads, and del wont go into bios... i had it at 3 4 4 10, though i dont know about all the other settings
Bladeblunter Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I've been using my Ballistix for about three months now, @250 with 2.7v and after some initial instability, they've settled now pretty well. My question is though, how do I tell if they are from a bad batch if they are likely to fail soon (as is suggested by some of the posts in this thread)? Would it be an idea to get the batch and serial numbers and check in with Crucial or should I just wait to RMA them if or when they go t*ts up? It would be interesting to see if there is a specific sequence that has been causing these problems. BB
NeilSouth Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Blade check the batch number on the sticks, if they have the batch number 1115N they have a higher chance of failing but it DOES not mean they will fail, my other batch was 1115V that failed. Currently testing 1115Z
