IF you are experiencing stability problems with the original BIOS then it may help.

From everything that I have seen it offers no performance increase, maybe a slight decrease.

3.2v is really unecessary in non-overclocking situations.

 

i have my Ballistix 4000 2x512 @ 3.0v @ 250x11 (2750Mhz)

I know this issue is typically an nF4 issue, but since you simply say Ballistix has issues with DFI boards I thought I'd share. I have the s754 nF3 250 DFI board and I can and always have had zero issues with my Ballistix in this DFI mobo. I can run DDR500 and above all day long on memtest without errors. I'm running the 2.8v these sticks are rated for. Not one hitch ever...I love them.

 

Timing sare as follows:

 

2 2 2 10 1T for DDR400-465

2.5 3 3 10 1T for DDR 466-500+

i have no problems with my 3200 crucial ballistix .. in fact they run better than my 3200 ocz rev2s...

 

the oczs could get to ddr600 in memtest.. but all the settings from ddr400-600.. i couldnt get my system prime stable at all..

 

the cruicals on the other hand.. are happy to run -

240 @ 2.5 - 2 - 2 - 5 with 2.8v

You will be overclocking the CPU when you do this. (are you aware of this?)

 

2.8v memory voltage should be ok.

 

And what timings are you modules rated at?

3-4-4-8 or 2.5-4-4-8?

 

If you have a new CPU core go for BIOS 623-3 (official).

Orange slots or Yellow slots?

Start with the orange and maybe try the yellow. (see if it does make a difference).

A few days ago i received my 2x1gb z503 ballistix sticks and a x2 3800+.

 

So far i can say that my dfi board much prefers yellow slots over the orange, was the other way for my TCCD and Redline UTT sticks.... in the orange the system will only boot around 1/4 times and the reset duration is unusually long. I am using 702-2 bios which is what i used with my SD 3700+/Redline combo ....i guess i should switch to a -1 bios for this combo but so far it's humming along alright.

 

So i'd say try both slots and just see how they go.

 

I've seen a few ppl talk about the 6/23 bios for x2 cpu's but i don't know how much truth there is in this???
