NeilSouth Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Hi im new, i dont have an nforce 4 board but id like to repot that my ballistix have failed me this morning, ive been running fine for a month although i have been getting ALOT of stuttering issues. Last night i got 3bsods irq not less than equal, i did a mem test over night And got many memory errors, did a test this morning again and it gave me errors within 1hr... lessened the timings it gives me bsod within 15mins. I cannot run at 2.6 volts it corrupts the screen or the hard drive, it has to be run at either 2.7 or 2.8 just to boot into windows. The memory was run at 232mhz 2.7 volts for a month 3 4 4 11, thats way under its spefications! it never ran at its default 250mhz, it would bsod. Im running an ABIT AV8 1x1gb=182C50B3 1x1gb=182C50F3
Resonance Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 I RMA'D my Ballistix pc4000 last month, i have not been around to test it since i got it back, it works fine @ 200-3,3,[email protected] with no errors in memtest over 8+ hours. BUT I cant get it upto 250fsb it just hangs at the irq list @ bootup?? anyone else had this? also looked in the latest ver of cpuz and the spd said i can do 3,4,4,10@250? i thought it was rated @ 3,4,4,8@250 2.8v? thats what it said on the crucial site i got em from. can someone shed some light on the matter. Cheers
MaKo Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 SPD on mine show 3-4-4-10 for 250 @ 2.8v also, but I can take em to 300 at 3-4-4-8 2.6v I would loosen the timings and lower the voltage and see how it goes in memtest.

Ill let you know what happens I am still on my first set and have no problems running now at 2.7ghz(284x9.5) and the memory running at 270mhz 3,3,3,8 1T at 2.8v on my MSI K8N Neo4. Have you heard of any other motherboard manufacturers having problems running the Crucial Ballistic pc4000 besides Abit and DFI? x-cite Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 mine is running fine so far (check sig for settings). From the looks of things there might have been a few gremlins in the production line, hence the bad batches.

NeilSouth Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 . Have you heard of any other motherboard manufacturers having problems running the Crucial Ballistic pc4000 besides Abit and DFI? Nope not yet, but still as i said mine was fine for a month no errors did an over night mem test it passed... one month later 5 bsod's in 1hr, ran an overnight test and i encountered like a million errors on both sticks also did a single ram test aswell errors in over 20mins. I even had to cool the memory as if i didnt it was roasting hot
