Tired of noisy chipset fan? DFI nF4 solution (modem warning!)

Recommended Posts

I had more hassles removing the chipset cooler than I had fitting the Evercool VC-RE. Like most folks have found chipset temp dropped 6 deg C to 40. Very quiet and I am very happy. Should improve further when the Arctic NV5 arrives. I liked you mods and ducting, but up front cost high and neither could I locate an old suitable copper heatsink to cut down. The evercool was a cheap simple solution for me.

is that a heatsink on the PWMIC ???

Prefering the simpliest solution I took an AMD HSF boxed, cut it down to 60x40mm, drilled the holes for screws & "fine tuned" the fins for better heat dissipation = fins cut to "pins" spreading them a bit to reach acceptable temperatures too - idle/load 40°C/47°C

This solution was very cheap (HSF boxed) just spent half a day with this modification.

ok mine is not as extreme, it was made from a fx5200 heatsink. Temps are 42/47 on idle/load respectively.

There is enough clearance for my 7800GTX and would have no trouble with SLI.
