battery Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 lol i hate google
Mercury Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 the funny thing is, exeter, google is a search engine. this basically means it looks for words you type in or combinations of those words, and displays the most relevant solution based on the a scoring system for the best combination. with that said, search engines cannot think logically, so if bezerk were to type in "will my epox-8rga work with my cheap hewlett packard 420w" im sure he would get some interesting results. the internet *is* broad, but once you've used it for a while, you learn that a large ammount of it is taken up by things irrelevant to what your looking for. i welcome you to try and find an answer though
d3bruts1d Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 I give up on trying to understand why Mercury is here.... BerZerK, as far as your questions, HP, Compaq, Dell, and most other companies tend to use proprietary components. This is done so if you want to upgrade you have to go back to where you got your computer from and order the parts directly from them. Basically just a way for them to keep the money for themselves. Now, some parts *may* transfer... Best thing you could do would be to open up your computer and see what looks normal. All of the components may transfer to a new motherboard, or none of them may transfer, just have to look and see. :/
battery Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 ok i can transfer everything over to my new mobo except my ram which isn't really that bad considering my current ram is pc133 i'm on newegg right now about to order 2 sticks of corsair pc2700 256mb. 90 bucks what a sweet deal=) i'm also on elctroseller ordering my new case cause i decided the only way my mobo is gonna fit in my current case is if i cut a hole into it which would be stupid sence i'm gonna try and sell=)
Mercury Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 i cant claim to know a whole lot about crappy power supplies... but i do know that there is a possibility of frying your components with, as d3b said, proprietary components, since they are usually very weak, and probably just powerful enough to run the computer they are in. i would suggest buying a cheap antec performance PSU for like 50 bucks, itl do ya good
