Guest sweet_jesus Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 I took apart my laptop yesterday to clean it and noticed that the ribbon that goes from my touch pad to the mobo is burnt, pretty bad. At one end there is a big chunk missing. I have no idea what could cause this and had no idea that this had happen until the other day. My touch pad still works but my question is does any one know what could have possibly went wrong?

Guest FreakyDrOverclock Posted December 5, 2001 Posted December 5, 2001 don't rub your touchpad that hard what parts of your mainboard are nearby?
Guest sweet_jesus Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 I never use my touchpad in the first place, I have always used a ps2 mouse. So that is why I can not figure out why it would burn like that if I never use the touch pad at all. The only vital thing that is close is is the keyboard but that is fine thank god. Espn83 Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 Yeah i agree with FreakyDrOverclock that you shouldnt rub it hard. You need to touch is gently
bass_freak Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 hmm, that doesn't sound like a hardware related problem to me.

bass_freak Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 LOL, his laptop is getting rather old, and he has takin it apart a time or two. His lack of computer "skills" should answer his own question. Might i bring up the "did you download it" story, he downloaded the Office XP onto his computer (in other words installed). This came from the good old nick burns videos on SNL.
