Cav-Scout Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Ok here is a goodie.. I installed my windows XP pro. Reboot the system and get this "NTldr not present" error message and then it tells me to press any key. I've been trying to remove it or fix it but to no avail..... I was told there maybe a floppy in the drive but there isn't. I have a WD 120 GB drive as primary and a Maxtor 40 GB hard drive as slave. I have tried disconecting the Maxtor and see what happens but I get the same error...... I have verified that all jumpers are in the right place via HD web sites. ... The only time I don't get this message is when the Windows CD is in the CD-ROM. I do have boot from CD capability but it won't boot from CD unless I press the space bar pryor to operating system start up.... Any suggestions? d3bruts1d Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Did you do a fresh install or an upgrade? If you upgraded, your best bet would be to blow the thing away and do a clean install. You can try the recovery console... Boot with the Windows XP CD like you are going to install it... when the install screen comes up, press "R" for Recovery Console. You'll be taken to a dos prompt and asked for the admin password, enter that... then you'll recieve just a prompt. Type fixboot If that doesn't work for you, you can try copying the NTLDR file form the windows CD. Should be in the i386 folder on the CD... just copy it to your C drive.
