wiinter Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 I'm not sure if it's the Soundstorm/nVidia encoder, or the Realtek ALC650 codec.. but has anyone even tried using their coax S/PDIF digital out into their amp and watched video? You will notice the sound is delayed just enough to make it very annoying when any character talks. It appears to be about a quarter second off. Not a big deal in games, but when you're trying to watch an mpeg, or a DVD, it gets really annoying. I'm tired of having to explain to friends that come over why my new comp sucks so much. New A7N8X with a barton 2500+, ATI 9700 Pro. It's a powerhouse compared to my older machine 1800+, which used to run video just fine. I've even considered it to be the amp's decoders, so I went and bought a new Sony DE885, $550 to find out. Same problem tho, sound delay. I can't find anything online that references this. No bios update, no new software or software tweaks, no one has even mentioned the problem and the board has been around for months... So, am I just smoking crack? Has anyone else tried it, is it working fine for them? And i don't just mean 'fine', I mean, have you watched a few episodes of something with heavy and close dialogue? I'm right pissed because I spent an entire weekend having everything wired/hidden through my livingroom from my comp to the amp/TV. But if I have to go back to stereo/analogue, and play hide-the-30ft-wire again, i'm going to freak. I'm also kind of spazzing because my first A7N8X deluxe board fried on me.. and the vendor took their sweet-. time replacing. By the time I got the new board, the board dropped $30, and my barton dropped $50.. the 9700 Pro also dropped $50.. all of which were just sitting around waiting on my new board. Burned.. *freaks* Write me back.

Trakfast11 Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 first time i've heard about it too. http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=nforce_u..._udp_winxp_2.03 they said: "Updated May 23, 2003: If you have previously downloaded the 2.41 or 2.42 nForce kits and have experienced any problems please follow these instructions on how to re-install previous drivers. what driver version were you using? i'm not sure what these directions say, but maybe they might help. also another note of this driver is: "Adds support for audio with the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe product" i'm not exactly sure what this means or if they are trying to imply anything about previous drivers. welp, hope everything turns out well for ya. gl
