wez Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Get the new nForce 4 SLI board. Then buy a Geforce 6600GT PCI-e video card (around 150$), And when you need more power, just buy another 6600GT and run SLI. And i realy think you should take a look at some UTT memory, (Twinmos Speed Premium for example) They are realy cheap and perform very well! (just take a look in my sig ) /wez Edit: iam always to slow

In regards to.... CPU Purchased at Ebay was a small thought. I do TRULY believe in the "Buyer beware" statement and the actual chance of it being bought from Ebay are microscopic RAM What you had listed was a little too much out of my price range Case This is the one... click here Video Understand about the PCI-e's and it does make sense. I would ALMOST prefer not to sell the 9800 Pro since I am also building one for the son (he inherits my parts) and would like to pass the 9800 Pro down to him in about another year. Motherboard I will wait another month or two. This will give me a chance to either get the other stuff I want to get first while saving up for the new board and CPU or give me a chance to decide on which other board to get. I am still leaning towards Socket 939. There was this Gigabyte board combo deal with a Athlon 64 3000 processor for $230. I take forever to make up my mind when it gets down to it. Id rather see you happy with an Asus or Giga board than unhappy with a DFI board Honestly AG, you don't have to push DFI on me. My success with the LAN Party board I have was enough to push DFI on me. I took the plunge on the NFII LAN Party rev A that I have and was very impressed. Since I have had that board I have built three other systems for other people all using the NFII Infinity board and they have not complained once. I dig DFI. I would rather get a DFI. I feel comfortable with DFI. When I saw the one picture somewhere online of the Socket 939, I thought that was the way for me because it still has AGP. It all started when I asked someone over in AMDMB forums if they thought it was possible to find an Athlon XP 3200, Logitech MX 1000, and a Cooler Master Jet7 HSF for $250. Their response was "Why don't you get this Chaintech board with an Athlon 64 2800 for $175" That opened my eyes a little and got me to investigating making the Athlon 64 jump. I have no desire to overclock. Maybe if I build up a Linux server out of the NFII Infinity board I have I might. But for my gaming machine, I tend to steer away from it. Skip04 Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 I have no desire to overclock That being said, you may be better off buying a cheaper MB of another brand and having the extra to spend on your other components. The DFI boards are made to get everything out of your cpu, but give up performance on the stock end. Like AG said ,better to be happy with what you get. The main reason I went with DFI on the LAN Party NFII I have was it looked cool. Once I found enough people were saying it performed well, then I made the jump. This board has been rock solid. That is why I want to get the Socket 939 one coming up.
wdb1966 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Just because you don't want to overclock doesn't mean you have to get a different board. I chose the DFI board because it does give me all the options I could want for overclocking, but since I run most of my system near stock, I can just tighten up the RAM timings and get some good performance without OCing my CPU. That said, I may just have to OC some eventually.
