ReMoose Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Im purchasing a audigy zs2 sound card soon. Is there a way to disable the onboard audio in the BIOS or do i just uninstall the audio drivers from windows? Also is there a BIOS setting that controls the Realtek LAN port. Because ive reformatted 3 times now trying to get it to show up and cant. It doesnt show up with device manager and if i install the drivers for it, i get told that the device cant be found. Finally, I noticed my southbridge getting hot and it causes my games/sound to lock up and skip. I was wondering if i get a 60mm fan and hook to the HS covering the SB , will it help to keep it cool? Thanks for the help.

NEOAethyr Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 For the realtek audio, built in option goto: Intergrated PeripheralsnVidia OnChip PCI Device In that sectrion you'll see only one option: ALC-650 AC97 Audio It has 2 setting: Auto (Means on I think, I dn if it's really auto or not) Disabled There . As for the south bridge, yes it defently helps to cool it, I use the default cooler and stupid tape on it for now, all default. But I do have an overvolted fan on it, an itty bitty one. The tiny one form the dreamcast, fit right on it with a screw on the top right corner, overvolted from 6v to 12v. Not the best setup, but does everything at 81Mhz AGP/40.5Mhz PCI. At 100Mhz/50Mhz it will screw up with high room temps. Still not bad lol for free .
ReMoose Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Ok I got my Gig LAN back up and I shutdown the onboard audio. Should I also uninstall all audio drivers for it? And what is the best way to fasten a fan to the SB heatsink. Pictures would help greatly.

THunDA Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 You should uninstall onboard sound drivers first in windows.. Then reboot and go into bios to disable the onboard sound.. Save and exit bios.. Then power down and put the new sound card in.. Power up and install the new sound drivers..
NEOAethyr Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 The sb fan, I can't really explain it any better then I allready have. I used a screw and screwed a fan into the corner of the heatsink. I dn have a camera so I can't show ya pics, my fan is so tiny it fits pretty much square with the sb. Yet it's decent speed because it's overvotlaged, probably deing out though from it, I dn.
