Tom Brohanks Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 This makes no sense, I am at stock speeds. If I run Prime95, it will go on for hours and hours and hours(left it on overnight). However, if I play music with WinAmp, after a certain amount of time(random and not too long) my computer locks up big time and freezes. I have already flashed the bios to 9/14 and put my voltage to 1.525... This makes no sense
cpuz Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Ok, are you using onboard sound or did you install a seperate audio card?

cpuz Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 what power supply are you using...brand & watts.
Tom Brohanks Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 what power supply are you using...brand & watts. PC Power and Cooling 310 watt. I did notice in Sandra that my 12v says it is 11.48v But, on my Athlon system I had before this, my 12v was always at 11.98v Would switching to 64 cause that huge of a hit on my 12v? cpuz Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Yes, it is definitely suspect. I would try swapping that out with somthing better. Do a search here, there are many threads on psu's.
Tom Brohanks Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 I'm still confused as to how my PSU could be the culprit. I mean I can run Prime95/music/IE/AIM all at once and it's FINE. Every time it locks up on me is when I'm not even stressing the system whatsoever...
cyberfossil Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 WOW! I am surprized you could evenboot with that power supply!

Tom Brohanks Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Okay, quick question... Should I have AGP Fastwrites and Sideband addressing turned to "auto"? I had them both off and 3dmark2001 wouldn't run. BUT I just turned them on and it works now... EDIT: Also, my 12v is perfect happy at 11.96
Tom Brohanks Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Okay this is bizarre... I'm watching my voltages before and after I run Prime95. When I'm NOT running Prime95, my cpu voltage is at 1.47... When I turn it on, it goes to 1.5 where it SHOULD be
Tom Brohanks Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Please can someone help me? I can't even make it through 3dMark2001 without it crashing out
