TambourineMan Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 I just ordered my LANParty UT NF3. When I was researching what MoBo to get, I briefly came across this forum. Afterwards I had a heck of a time finding it again. It doesn't Google. "About" doesn't work so I can't tell if this is a DFI supported forum or not, but apparently paid DFI employees are here to help and DFI imposes some controls (that may be imposed on them by AMD). Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I think DFI should have link to this forum on their website so new users can find it easier. RGone Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 TambourineMan, AG and I do support on our off time. He funds this site from his pocket so that it is "fast" and not full of advertising which the average user has no need of and no tracking done. Of course we always are representing DFI as we both work in sub-contractor capacity, but with private funding we have no slant and none intended except DFI makes one whale of a motherboard; so the best of both worlds can be had. This way as they say where I am from; "if I tell you a bird dips snuff> look under his wing> he does." Along those lines at any rate. Just a pretty solid forum from which major help is obtainable and after a while many users become steady participants. Internet friends and family for many of us in the long run. You google dfi + street and every hit from the first is showing a link here from every major site on the net from extreme right on down. Good luck and welcome! to the forums. RGone... Angry_Games Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 we are paid subcontracter employees for DFI. We do this site out of our own pockets and out of our own time. We dont allow advertising banners here to keep the site as fast as possible and with as little distraction as possible. We have rules here to keep things on-topic and to make it easy as possible to give users help. this is the only official outlet for getting any kind of overclocking help since dfi nor any other mobo mfg officially supports overclocking. keeping this site away from dfi corporate site (and hands) means we have more freedom to do what is necessary to help users like yourself. we do have some strict guidelines when it comes to helping you here set by DFI...we are company reps after all and have to adhere to certain 'company lines' but other than that, we have a lot more freedom since corporate doesn't have any say in how we handle users. hope this helps (btw, since about 3 months ago or more, DFI Street shows up in the top 10 @ google when doing a search for dfi/support/forums)
TambourineMan Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Thanks for the quick and informative reply. I've only had a chance to read a few messages on this board and one was about not you not being able to help people who wanted to use the mobile processor in DFI desktop mobo's. I guess I came to the wrong conclusion about the relationship of this forum to DFI. (I don't particularly care about mobile CPU's as I ordered a standard Athlon 64 CPU.) Anyway I am glad you're here and that I found you again (I didn't remember the "street" part of your forum name as I was surfing a large number of forums for info on the DFI mobo I was thinking of buying.) This is my first DFI board. All my previous ones have been ABit or Asus. One of the main reasons for choosing them was because of the support available as problems are always encountered. Angry_Games Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 I've only had a chance to read a few messages on this board and one was about not you not being able to help people who wanted to use the mobile processor in DFI desktop mobo's. this is standard company procedure. AMD and Nvidia both do not allow motherboard mfg's to officially support mobile processors on desktop platforms. So therefore we are not allowed to officially support it nor make any statements about official support. however, since this is a privately funded forum ran by two DFI subcontractors, we are able to slightly skirt some issues...we have to give official word that DFI will not support mobile or any other unsupported things (like overclocking) but Rgone and I will do our best to help out. Guest eva2000 Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 funny though AMD provides their own support forums officially at http://forums.amd.com/index.php?act=idx with quite a share of overclocking related discussions hehe
