lilkev715 Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 (edited) I have just got this illuminated blue vandal switch but the amount of power from my mobo power led connector is not strong enough as the switch is lit dimly. I was wondering, can I obtain parts from my local Radio Shack to obtain power to the switch from a 4-pin molex connector? I know I would have to use some type of resistors but I am a noob at this type of stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Propane Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Ive seen some posts like this in the modding section - you could try a search (im too lazy too )
justinal Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 use a 470 ohm resistor that should do the trick the light runs off current not voltage so the resistor should force more current thru the light
sykocus Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 not exactly sure where you got that from... anyways...looking at the data sheet and asuming you have the blue LED model. since they are rated at 20 mA and the blue led has a voltage drop of 3.6v a resistor of 420 ohms would be recomended. actually i'm not really that smart the data sheet is right here and here's a good little page for figuring out what you need for led resistors. that also asumes you'd be using the 12v wire from the molex
lilkev715 Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Thanks for the info. I will head to Radio SHack tomorrow and ask the peeps there as well on what resistor they think is best as well.
