Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Hey Guys Was Wondering if any of you might be able to help me with the problem I am having. For some reason I am getting no sound out of my Left Speaker when my speakers are connected to the onboard audio of my motherboard. They are connected to the line out connection. Already tried purchasing a new set of speakers but still no change. I have heard this is a common problem with these boards would like to know what i can do to fix this problem. Synchro Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 This is going to sound fairly a-holish, so please don't take offense. Are you using the supplied audio cables for your speakers, or your own (try another cable?)? Are you making sure that the plug is set all the way into the socket (they can sometimes be stiff)? Have you tried slightly unplugging the cable, to see if maybe the contacts are bent/at the wrong depth/etc.? Have you tried wiggling/turning the plug in the socket? Also, have you checked the nVMixer application and made sure that the balance is set correctly, or that there isn't something set to 'mono'? Like I said, sounds like I'm being an a-hole, but I'm not. Run down this checklist and you'll have confirmed it's a problem with the motherboard. Honestly, if there's *no* sound coming from the right channel (not even static) it may be a bad connector inside the jack. You can also try running nVSwitcher to swap the mic port with line-out (if I remember right) to test a different jack and see if it works. That's my $0.02, others may have more advice. king of nothing Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Do you have two jumpers on the "Front Audio" pins on your mobo? One is for Left and one is for Right.
Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Ran through all those. Didn't Help. Where can i get nvswitcher, never heard of that before? Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Only use the green conection on my mb. I only have stereo speakers. they only have a green jack. king of nothing Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Only use the green conection on my mb. I only have stereo speakers. they only have a green jack.Yes... but on your motherboard there are some pins that allow you to connect a FrontX panel with a headphone jack. I believe on your board it will be below your last PCI slot. It should be marked "Front Audio". It needs to have 2 jumpers on it to make the sound go directly to the rear audio jack. Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Just checked there are two jumpers on that connnection. I believe it looked some thing like this 1 2 3 4 5 | | | | | <=Pin Locations Jumpers on 3 and 4. Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I just went to Nvidia website to download nvswitcher, actually its called NVSwap, but no biggie i found it. I can get sound on my left and rights if they are hooked up into the microphone jack. I only get sound from my right speaker when hooked up into the line out jack. So what do i do next? king of nothing Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Attached is a diagram of the audio pins. You should have one jumper bridging pins 9 and 10 (AuD_L_Out and AuD_L_Return) and one jumper bridging pins 5 and 6 (AuD_R_Out and AuD_R_Return). If your jumpers are as your diagram shows.... it explains why you are not getting sound out of the left side.
Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Ok, that would explain why. Im going to go switch them around and hope that it works. Will my Mic still work if i ever decide to use it.
Jpj85 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 After changing the jumper settings as such that has corrected the problem. Will my microphone still work though?
