Should I take out audio module???

Recommended Posts

I will be using SB Audigy 2 ZS so I don't actually need onboard sound so I was wondering if it would be better to just pull it off the board. Why keep something that will not be used??

Well, you need to add your computer specs to your signature. What mobo are you talking about? If you not using onboard sound, I would say yes.

tadone, if you mean the riser card for audio output I guess it wouldn't hurt to jus leave it in there man.... if nothing else, it will keep crap from falling into the card's slot and shorting something or blocking it from future use.

please check the rules and the Important Info threads stuck to the top of this section, paying close attention to the second post in teh 'critical' thread (about system specs in your sig).

this helps us tremendously to help you solve your issue if we can see what is in your system every time you post.

Be as thorough as possible please. Voltages, timings, settings, bios version. The more information you give us about the problem, and the more details about your hardware in your sig = more help we can give you.

if you are using a separate PCI audio card then there is no reason to have the Riser for the integrated audio attached.

Thanx Angry I knew that there must be a reason for that audio module to have ability to be taken out. I do not know exactly how will it help, I was thinking maybe better sound quality for my Audigy.

The reason for the audio module is to isolate if from electrical noise on the motherboard. Having the external connections on the module also returns some valuable realestate for other components on the motherboard.
