DFI Rocks!

After seeing so many people saying "wow DFI boards are so unreliable" etc. I felt like I should say something.

First it's an overclocker's board not for your 99.9% uptime server, and you should buy it with that state of mind.

Second what other motherboard manufacturer is brave enough to open a forum so everyone else can see what kind of problems their boards have? I can only imagine what a support forum for MSI or ASUS would look like.

And going by my personal experience I have owned 3 ASUS, 1 MSI, and 1 DFI motherboard, and the DFI is by far the best of any of them. The ASUS boards:

all stopped booting after I had them for 2 years or so

didn't overclock well if at all

The MSI board is a piece, if you change certain BIOS settings like from auto ram timings to manual -without changing the actual timings- it becomes unstable.

Then there's my DFI board. Not only does it do 250x10 without any mods or chipset over-voltage (my RAM sucks though) but I have broken off a capacitor on it, and spilled coolant on it, and it is still 100% Prime95 and memtest86 stable (well I fixed that stuff first). I can't say enough about this board and you can be sure I will never buy another brand of board again.

So I guess this is just a word of encouragement to Angry_Games, RGone, and everyone who helps out on this forum. Angry provided me with great support and helped me get my board working even though we both knew I screwed it up myself. With anything else (cell phones come to mind) if you got it wet they would just try and sell you another one.

So thanks guys and keep up the good work!

-Jared

i still have an Asus A7V 900Mhz Tbird that boots and plays all the games ;) I love my Asus boards, and I really love my Gigabyte boards.

each mfg's board is different...some are for you, some are not for you. Each mfg has a certain number of boards that will fail, or be defective etc. This is typical. '

Yeah you're right I know I just get ticked off when people are like "oh man I hear so much bad stuff about dfi boards"

I was worried you guys were thinking "man we do all this hard work and these people are like 'man dfi sucks' ".

And yeah I'll admit all our work computers (9) have the ASRock K7S41GX and it has been a really good motherboard, a friend of mine says it is produced by ASUS I think...

But we should somehow turn this into a dfi success story thread or something, I guess you just have to look at the toaster sig thread for that though hehe.

Well, MSI has a current forum and another forum specific to "Diamond" users. Asus used to have one, but has since been closed. In my opinon, I don't feel that forums are an "ultimate" way to judge the quality of boards. If you think about it, most people that come to post in forums are those having problems. While the many, many, many other users that are NOT experiencing problems, don't.

Go read through the MSI forums and you will be appalled! You would leave thinking the MSI Neo2 is the worst mobo of all time. In fact it is quite the opposite. I find that many of the posters have caused their own problems (for example they forgot to plug in a connector, etc.)

Or go read the anandtech forums. Most are posting about all the problems w/ Asus A8N-SLI. Some don't meet the minimum psu requirements, etc. It is an EXCELLENT board! I know, I own one, and have not had 1 single problem w/ it, except that it is a poor oc'er w/ current bios.

I quess the best way to judge a board is to read the reviews from respectable sites and then read the forums of experienced users. Keep an open mind about the posts and then take the plunge and experience it yourself!

Haha.. I manage a cell phone store.. I try to clean them, but you see some people drop them in the toilet and dont say anything..lol

No way in hale I wana touch that..

Most of the time what I get when I talk to someone, "What is DFI?" :shake: They don't know what they are missing!

I get the same thing.. but they arent overclockers so that would be why :P

Yeah I sell phones for a living also so that's why I brought it up. Oddly enough a friend of mine has a motorola v.60 that has hit water 4 times and still works, it's weird I know.

I don't intend this to be an other-motherboard bashing thread though just so everyone knows. Hehe my DFI is the only reliable mobo I have personally owned so I am a little bitter sometimes.

ah...just cuz i work for dfi doesn't mean i dont like other boards...i still love Giga boards a lot.

to this day I have never owned an Abit board ever....but have had plenty of Asus and a few Epox, a couple of MSI, and a lot of Gigabytes lol. I like them all. A few models of some boards I have had nothing but problems with, but thats typical.
