Guest Byron Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Can someone explain how to uninstall the nvidia mb drivers? i.e. the standalone nforce4 drivers were released today and apparantly work on the nf3 chipset. I want to try them but every time i full uninstall nvidia drivers and then driver clean them i cannot boot. It has to do with my raid array. What I dont want to do is install these new drivers over old ones, so how do i do a uninstall the old ones and a clean install of new MB drivers? Thanks! cpuz Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 I have read that many just install on top of old drivers with no problems. that's what I'm planning to do. Uninstalling may make your system unbootable.
Guest Byron Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Hmm .. i dont have a problem doing that so long as i dont have a problem with lingering old drivers .. anyone have any more info on that?
RGone Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Do google mwarhead reset. Use it. Driver cleaner it and have at the new drivers. Maybe your problems are just a forerunner of what will happen to you later when you try to load NF4 drivers to and NF3 board? Hehehehe. Maybe it is a sign of what might come? Who knows how the computer gawds communicate. RGone...
psy^ Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Can someone explain how to uninstall the nvidia mb drivers? Looked in the Add / Remove Programs section of the Control Panel, at the nVidia Drivers option? It'll show all your nVidia drivers. If you have a video card obviously tick all boxes on the items except for your video driver. Then as RGone suggested grab DriverCleaner to make sure all the nForce crap is cleaned out, and dump those nf4 drivers on your board :shake:
dellin Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 a question. i have tried installing different nforce betas. once i uninstall everything and reboot i just stays black screen. i am wondering if it is wise to uninstall/run driver cleaner and install new drivers without rebooting? cpuz Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 can you get into safe mode?
dellin Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 "can you get into safe mode?" well i havent tried that after uninstalling everything. i doubt i could as the screen just goes black, and the rig is basically dead. i am wiery of trying new drivers as i have to re-install winblows after every try heh..gets rather old. cpuz Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 well, if it were me in your shoes, I would do a fresh install of windows. NO WAY would I rely on that rig with all of your betas installed and then uninstalled.
dellin Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 lol..i dont have a bunch of betas installed. i have a fresh install atm and am curently using the 5.03 from DFI CD. i am basically wondering how to install the latest nvidia drivers from DFI or Nv for that matter, without FUBAR my system...i guess the best way to "upgrade" nforcer drivers is to do it during a fresh install of winblows. because it always seems something doesnt work right be it NIC, IDE, Sound etc if you try uninstalling nv drivers then installing new..even after using Driver Cleaner.. Egold Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Im comming from a abit nf7-s and have upgraded the nforce drivers many times. I delete the drivers in add-remove then boot into safemode and use driver cleaner. I also delete the nvida folder. I was running a ati 9800 pro with that board so didnt have to worry about the video drivers. I've never had any problems with reinstalling the new nforce drivers before. I have to say Im just a wee bit gun shy right now. My rigs only 2 weeks old and had some issues installing xp pro on this system,so right now Im holding tight with the previous set of nforce drivers until I read there worth installing. This boards very friendly and helped me out with my install issues. right now Im thinking about a bio's upgrade I hear the temps on the stock bio's isnt correct.
