tristancarton Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Pro, Yeah let us know how yours does. I am still tinkering with mine. (same exact stepping. caa2c 0450 dpmw) Right now I am at 250x10 1.55v 2-3-3-7 1t 1:1 prime95 stable 12+ hours. I have tried a bunch of things to try and get stability above that but haven't succeded yet.
Prostock62 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Tristancarton what are you useing for memory?I see your primary and secondary setup and comeing soon 3400 with ran already purchased,What kind? Also what are you useing for cooling?
tristancarton Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 yeah sorry. i am waiting for a little more ram before i update my profile.(nothing worse than having a computer in your sig that is fast as hell with only 512 mb of ram) right now i have a 512 mb stick of pdp xbl3200 in it and am using an slk-948u. i will be buying at least another 1-2 gigs of memory. (512 sticks of 3200 pdp xbl (2-2-2-5)or 1 gig sticks of 3200 pdp (2-3-2-5) ) i may temporarily move my pc2700 512mb kingston stick to the a64 till i get more pdp. i honestly can't stand running on just 512. in any case, love the ram and heatsink. wish the processor would go higher but not really displeased. 2.5Ghz at 1.55v on a 1mb cach clawhammer core is damn good for a 249 dollar cpu. processor runs very cool and is dang fast.(although i am kinda displeased with the multitasking ability of my new system but that may just be due to me only runnign 512mb of ram right now)
Prostock62 Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 To be honist i dont think haveing 512 of ram is holding back your overclock, maybe performance a little depending on what your useing it for.Iam useing 2x256 corsair 3500 BH-5 with my NF11 and ill be useing it in my 64.But i dont think it will hold back the overclock itself. If i can find some more 3500 corsair it would be nice.I was useing 1 gig of 3200LL corsair and found no diffrence. In my case anyway.Thanks. tristancarton Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 not talking about overclock talking about multitasking. having more ram in your system gets rid of the page file associated with windows.(or at least cuts down on it) systems with low ram are slow because hard drive page files are hundreds of times slower than ram. if anything one 512mb stick of ram is helping my overclocks. i hope i can stay at 250x10 with the ram i add in the future. i think my overclock may just be limited by my luck of the draw.(though 2500 is still damn good at 1.55v.) Prostock62 Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 You have it right about the page file and windows with the ram,and yes it seems that 512 is a benifit when it comes to overclocking.I think with some more tweeking you can get more out of it tristancarton. Can you give it more juice to help out? tristancarton Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 working on it. not so sure my cpu or memory controller has it in it. i can 3dmark2001 bench at 2600-2700 with higher volts(1.65-1.75) but prime 95 stability hasn't happened yet. (pretty sure i figured it out that 2500 is my cpus limit) even if i could get her 2650 stable at 1.75 v, i am not sure if i woudl do it. 1.55v at 2500 (equates to around a 3900) is a nice middle of the road cool cpu overclock. I think with some more tweeking you can get more out of it tristancarton. Can you give it more juice to help out?
