Angry_Games Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 its a good move and its pretty easy if you are familiar with installing heatsinks (and can follow directions) if you have a Mobile/DTR cpu then this is not a good idea (you want an SLK-948U)

Angry_Games Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 no modding required for the XP90 or 120 its not recommended on cpu's that do not have the integrated heat spreader

Angry_Games Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 if you can get an SLK-948U that is definitely the way to go...it is a 'bolt-thru' design, while the XP- series is more of a 'clip-on' design. I always trust the bolt-thru more. the XP-90 is a great sink though, dont get me wrong. I have one on my LGA775 2.8E Prescott @ 260x14 and a 92mm 2800RPM fan and it rocks
nSaNe Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 xp-90 i run on my lanparty. xp-120 i have installed on a lanparty. both fix perfect. no modding.. no anything in the way with mobiles u can shave a mm or two off the mounting bracket to drop it down a lil. SLK 948U is a killer sink.. i still have a SLK947U and it also rocks. thermalright rules.
Prospector Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I'm using the Thermaltake Silent Tower with dual 90mm fans,it's a bolt through design.Granted mine is on a Desktop 3400 but I have seen someone here in the forums using one on a 3400 mobile.Typing this @2.7 32c
Guest ElAguila Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 The slk-948 is also available from this canadian store: http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/Merchant2/...tegory_Code=5.
drb1 Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I tried epowerhousepc.com. They are out of stock for the SLK-948U. Did Thermalright quit making this?
