JoeGalvan Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Hello all Here are my current settings for my genie bios. Can you tell me if they seem to be correct. I think that I have the reg Advanced Bios settings correct, but i dont know what to set my mem settings at to get the most stable, full potential performance i can... Im not really looking to OC that much, but opinions would be nice Please let me know. David Stewart Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Looks pretty standard. If you plan on oc much, you may want to increase the chipset voltage to 1.7 and the cpu voltage up to 1.5 or so. Of course your milage may vary. For a detailed tutorial on memory settings, Jess1313 wrote this guide that should point you in the right direction. JoeGalvan Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Obviously I am not doing something right,.. Here are my current readings :(:( My HTT is crap along with my Mem speed... I dont really understand what was said in that post...
bpm3k Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Looks like everything is set to default. Change the "FSB bus frequency" to 215 or 220 for some instant gratification. If you want to be a bit more scientific and possibly get more out of it read this thread.
Guest kerclaps Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 I also find that post a little hard to comprehend, need an idiots guide for people like me, haha.
David Stewart Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 For now, just set everything to auto or default. Experiment with raising the FSB Bus Frequency up to 220 or so for now. If everything boots gine and is stable, then try 225. Repeat the process until you find your stable maximim. Later, you can fine tune and tweak your memory timings, etc. after you get a rough idea how overclockable your rig is going to be. JoeGalvan Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Ok, so then should my fsb be at 400mhz to match my memory if i have ddr 3200(which is at 400mhz?) or do both sticks (2 x200mhz a stick) total 400 mhz, leaving the FSB at 200? jesus ;-)
vega27 Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 no, 'FSB bus freq = 200' is where you need to start. DDR400 is labelled as such because it communicates with the cpu at 200MHz in both directions at the same time- effectively 400MHz. you can't go 'up to 220' and 225 from 400, can u? :shake: when you start to have problems after raising this frequency, drop the 'cpu/fsb multiplier ratio'. that should straighten things out. then keep going up with the frequency until you have problems again. drop the multiplier again and repeat. just keep in mind this frequency is also the DLT frequency so you'll have to drop that multiplier eventually as well. 'FSB bus freq' x 'DLT multiplier' should stay somewhere in the 600-900MHz range (1200-1800MHz DDR) for your PC to boot. default is 800MHz (1600MHz DDR) for this motherboard. details gorier than that are all over the place already. and, as always, keep a close eye on your temps. Angry_Games Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 these might or might not help...its a decent overclock, not too stressful or extreme....yet worthy of having just for the 450Mhz extra out of the cpu and 50FSB extra out of the memory http://www.angrygames.com/NF3.htm DFI NF3 Athlon 2800+ NC OCZ PC3700EB 2x512 Thermalright SLK-948U 2x Raptor RAID-
