Prometia Nonstart

Recommended Posts

Hey:

Anyone have this problem? I rigged up my new prometia Mach I but it simply will not run. When you plug it in it fires up the system without touching the power switch but shuts down after about 6 seconds. No error message on the controller, it does show temp. Also the power switch doesn't work, you have to unplug and replug in to make it cycle. The case MB, switches etc were all working before I installed the Mach I. Any thoughts or similar problems.

HELP???

Lance

since it doesn't seem likely you'll get a reply on this, i'll try to see if i can help with any suggestions. i don't know too much about the specifics of the prometia, but the vapochill might be simular enough.

you said your system turns on for 6 seconds and then off, and thats without touching the power switch? What happens if you try turning it on using the power switch?

.and when you say "without touching the power switch" do you mean the power led does not turn on, but the prometia system does? (this is what the vapochill does until it reaches the specified start up temperature), or do you mean you physically do not tough the power switch, but the system still turns on after you plug it in and flip the ATX switch on?

do you happen to have a heatsink fan you can test your system with? You might want to try detaching the prometia base from the cpu and check to see if your processor core has been chipped. although this might not be the case since your motherboard isn't POSTing (if your motherboard could do a Power On Self Test, it would tell you if there was a problem with your processor. ie: "no cpu installed" or "system failed cpu test").

if you said that the motherboard and system was working fine before you installed it with your prometia system, then your motherboard may not be grounded well.

if you haven't already done so, you may want to put washers between your motherboard and the screws. if that doesn't work, you can try unscrewing the motherboard from the chasis and then take it out and test it on an open table (preferrably in a room without carpet). If your motherboard still doesn't work after that, i don't kno w to tell ya.

p.s: it could be something as easy as switching the orientation of one of the wires that plugs into your motherboard. the reset switch for example. gl
