red930 Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Really, it's a question of supply and demand. When people stop buying them as fast as they can make them the price will come down. nVidia is starting to leak info on dual-gpu cards hitting the street next fall. Until then it's anybody's guess. bryanberlin Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I read Nvidia is actually considering rendering the x-tra pipes on a vanilla card un-usable with a laser = no more un-locking got mine un-locked with riva-tuner 15.3 :shake:
red930 Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 bryan The idea that they would mount the IC for quals then break it out of the mount to use a "friggin' laser" doesn't make sense. It sounds like someone that doesn't know the fab/mounting process started a nasty rumor. keep, The AGP slot could handle the dual GPU cards but that would mean that we really didn't have to move to PCIX. They would never admit that PCIX was nothing more than a reason to sell new hardware. My tin-foil hat is securely in place. red930 Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Outpost.com has just listed these BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC units for $399.00 with a $50.00 rebate. http://shop3.outpost.com/product/4082632 256MB GDDR3 Memory, Dual DVI, 425MHz Core Clock, Memory speed of 1100MHz and AGP 8X. The OC stands for Over Clock but I'm not sure what they mean by that. The card may come over clocked or you have to change the settings.
