jleggett Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 I was flashing my BIOS today to 1005. I did the 1004 a few weeks ago with no problems. TOday, it hung up in the middle of writing the Flash memory. I let it sit for about 20-30 minutes befoe finally resetting. It boots to the following screen now: ------------------------------------------------------------- Award Boot Block BIOS v1.0 Copyright©2000, Award Software Inc. BIOS ROM Checksum Error Detecting Floppy Drive A media Drive media is 1.44Mb Automatic Load AWDFLASH.EXE ----------------------------------------------------------- At this point the sytstem loads the AWDFLASH.EXE utility off the floppy. It comes up the normal flash screen. This is the latest version from ASUS Website v8.24B I can never press any keys whatsoever. I DO NOT GET TO THE BIOS SCREEN WHERE I CAN PUSH ALT-F2. Thanks for the replies with that solution, but it doesn't work in this case. I get the eror message "Source File Not Found !" in the message section. I have tried booting the floppy with the c18d1003.bin, c18d1004.bin, and the c18d1005.bin files from the ASUS website for a Rev 2 board. I ALSO tried renaming the c18d1003.bin to an8d1003.bin on the off chance it wanted the Rev 1.X boards naming conventions (it didn't work either). SO I guess the real question here is: WHAT is the default name the Award Boot Block BIOS or the AWDFLASH.EXE util use by default? if any? If I can get ANY BIOS on this thing then I could re-flash to a newer one. Thanks, I will continue searching the web for a solution to see if anyone else has encountered this problem. General912 Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 It sounds to me like your screwed. You must of did something wrong when flashing the bios. I would contact ASUS see what they say.
Raife Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 Are you using a USB keyboard and mouse? If you are try to find a PS2 keyboard and mouse. It might work. USB legacy support is not native to the bios (particularly something that basic v1.0) Otherwise I think you are hosed.

Cav-Scout Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 I had this Problem also... First the manuel tells you (in section 2.7.(4) (jumpers) to remove the battery from the motherboard and wait several minutes then reboot.... press and hold del key to start bios over... select legacy keyboard and mouse usage and try to flash with new bios..... make sure you remember what the new file is called before you enter.... sometimes the BIOS files you download are zipped so make sure it was unzipped also.. hope this works I know I was very upset until I read the manual
