IDE issues with my nf3 250GB

Recommended Posts

I have had an issue repeatedly with my board. I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong because I returned the first board to do this and the second is too.

I hook up all my old ide devices Primary = 2 HDD, Secondary = 2 CD drives. I can't remember which HDD should be which. It loads up and recognizes all four devices. I then get an error, 'error loading o/s'. I boot up winXP's repair console, and can read my hard drive. I eventually am lead to believe my master HDD should be the slave. I turn off the computer. switch the ide cables connect on the two hdds then reboot. On reboot, NONE of the IDE devices are recognized.

Anyone seen this?

Sounds like you need to play with the jumpers on your HDD's.

There's no setting built into the drives which means they "should be the slave", that's up to you to change with those little pins on the back near the power connector.

Make sure you've set the right drive to boot in the BiOS too :)
