steelie Posted June 1, 2003 Posted June 1, 2003 I am going to be buying this mobo for my new computer and seeing as it hasonboard sound processing can this feature be turned OFF? I want to know if you can disable the onboard sound so that an aftermarket sound processor can be used without any problems. How does the onboard sound processing compare to soundblaster live? I was thinking of just buying the new soundblaster platinum 2.0 soundcard. Should I just use the onboard sound or upgrade right away? Thanks in advance
LobbDogg Posted June 1, 2003 Posted June 1, 2003 Yes the Soundstorm can be turned off in the BIOS and yes you can use a separate sound card with no problems. The Soundstorm sound is very good. The only problem I had with it was that I didn't get much volume out of my headphones while using it. I tried every volume adjuster and stuff, but it just seems kinda quiet. The Sound Blaster Audigy is good too. That is what I am currently using with this board, and it runs just fine. What you could do is just use the SoundStorm for a while until you for sure have all the money to do the upgrade. Or if you are not extremely picky about sound, just keep it. It sounds very good afterall and maybe that way save some money. I think the Soundstorm is generally better than a SB Live. Overclocker16 Posted June 1, 2003 Posted June 1, 2003 If you start having troubles, then yes disable it. But if the sound and everything is going good, then you don't need to worry about it. But it is always best to disable it. Just so you don't get errors and have to do it later.
