Capo Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 (edited) I'm looking to put together the best possible system for 500 dollars (if it goes over 10 bucks or so, that's ok, but basically 500). I know lots of people have little excel template sheets up or things of the sort listing pieces, price, and location to buy from. Would anyone have something similar for this, or could someone give a suggestion? The parts I'll need are: Motherboard (will need on board sound and an onboard nic preferrably) Processor/Heatsink/Fan Case w/power supply (at least 400watts) 2 case fans 512 megs of ram 40 to 60 gig harddrive Video Card (a decent one, possibly GF4 Ti4200 -- cant afford the really nice ones though) DVD ROM Drive CD Burner drive I think that's about it. I can get a monitor, keyboard, mouse, floppy drive, and basic stuff like that on the side, just need the meat of the system basically. So, can that be done for roughly 500 bucks? Any help would be appreciated! Edited May 30, 2003 by Capo
battery Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 the comp i'm building as u can see in my sig is about 600. if u wait or swap out something you could prolly get it down to 550. prices have already dropped when i made my sig. like my mobo was going to be 110 but it was only 99 and the cpu was going to be 120 but newegg gots it for 96 so thats almost 40 bucks right there. tkos Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 i like to monitor all my prices on pricewatch. You will probably do the best price wise buying from 2-3 vendors, just don't let them soak you too much on shipping, thats where they will get ya. Other than that I would recomend staying with AMD products as to have the best price:performance ratio. thatr and buying OEM parts will help you out also.
