I ask because there is an issue with 6800s and Nforce 3 chipsets causing premature throttling in D3D apps when the card is overclocked. reactor Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 currently using: hxxp://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=926 have had them for about a week and everything runs great, i have the firewall etc. disabled so i cant comment on how that runs. your not going to see much performance change just by changing the chipset driver, they just fix a few problems...and sometimes create a few more. Can you please explain why the drivers that come in the cd are so special? aren't they the same as the nvidia version or are they tweaked just fior the board? if they are i would gladly go back to using them if they actually boost performance with this board! Rustbucket Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 He is saying they are the most recent drivers that are certified by DFI to run stable with the board. Since every motherboard is a little slightly different, normally each manufacturer has the drivers that run most stable with their own board posted on their website. And in the case of DFI they have the 5.03 posted on their website, and I believe these are the same ones on the CD. Feel free to eleborate anyone. The only thing special at them is that they dont work for me. No firewall (I cant even install NRM), no micsound. Sad... Elisha Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 i was just wondering thats all. cause the latest ones work fine for me.
RGone Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 YMMV is what it means and the two users I had to spend so much time with had some strange needs and the later drivers just flat did not work right. Same board same all and past that I do not know. So I posted this. I have spent days trouble-shooting sound problems with users that ran over to Nvdia and downloaded some new driver and windup pulling their hair out until they went back to the drivers from DFI download. Seldom do I see faster drivers and so I personally don't chase drivers. I have no idea how a board could work well one way and not the other but it happens all the time it seems. RGone... HermS Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I don't mess with beta chipset drivers, they've caused me big problems in the past. Currently I just use the 5.10's which are the latest official ones I believe, they've caused me no problems whatsoever.
