Oclock Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I dont know why but everytime i switch resolutions in games a blue screen pops up and i think it says memory dump but it goes to fast to read. Then it reboots. anyone else have this problem?
Speedpc Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 YEP rockit fixed it for me try this: It's so simple hope it works, let us know. If you are having blue screens on EXIT from UT engine based games. It is due to DEP, the build in anti-virus/exploit, used by windows and your processor. Disable this and it will end your Blue Screen issues. You have to edit the boot.ini file so it looks like the following. WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=AlwaysOff /fastdetect The part that need to change is the /noexecute to AlwaysOff I think its pretty lame that I cannot use Fast Writes or Side Band Addressing. My P4 System easily overclocked and the video card(BFG 6800GT) ran above ultra specs. Now with the A64 I still get in game pauses. Oclock Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Ok i was looking around windows and found the DEP settings. Could i potentially mess up my computer if i turned this thing off. See pic
stowenrat Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 DEP sounds like one of those things M$crosoft does too make us all more secure that causes mre problems than it solves. If it was me I would turn it off on general principle.

Guest ZigZag Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Disable fast writes & sidebanding in the DFI bios. This cures the stuttering in D3D games problems people experience using an nvidia 6800 series card with an nforce 3 board. This really ticked me off with my new mobo as my yr old Via AMD64 board had no problem running the 6800 gt oc I have WITHOUT stuttering in D3d games. UT is a d3d game
