Vorian Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 ok just ordered the following: Amd Sempron 2800+ (2ghz) proc. Corsair XMS twin-x 512x2 pc3200 ram Dfi Lanparty NFII Ultra-b Albarton Geforce 6800le 128mb vid card. 34gig raptor sata HD Liteon 52x32x52 cd-rw drive upon putting it all together and then testing with everything installed and hooked up, i get a single constant beep just *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*, ok look it up on site, dram problem. test the 2 sticks of corsair in this computer, both sticks are fine, this comp boots no problems. try all 3 of the slots in the nf2 ultra-b with each stick same beep code. take all ram out still get the constant beep, plus i think it was a 3 or 2 beep code (guessing a no ram detected code?). so i read up and find semprons aren't supported in the rev i use, least not with bios. but the larger problem is the constant beep and no post/boot at all. also i get no video display at all. course i can't get past post so that is expectable. any ideas? cssuk Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 hi not too familier with the semprons but i do know there is a revised bios for the board to recognise them, perhaps thats the problem? dunno what the no cpu beeps would be but i might be an idea to do the bios first or try a non semperon chip to see how you get on
king of nothing Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 I'd have to guess it's the sempron also. Do you have another processor.... or the ability to beg/borrow/steal one... to use to boot up and flash to new bios with sempron support? Angry_Games Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 please check the rules and the Important Info threads stuck to the top of this section, paying close attention to the second post in teh 'critical' thread (about system specs in your sig). this helps us tremendously to help you solve your issue if we can see what is in your system every time you post. Be as thorough as possible please. Voltages, timings, settings, bios version. The more information you give us about the problem, and the more details about your hardware in your sig = more help we can give you. Vorian Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 here's a link to newegg wishlist that has exactly what i bought. timings are default for the ram so 2-3-3-6. bios ver is what ever shipped on the board on 12/9 can't boot so i can't see what the bios ver is. but tis reva says sticker on printer port. voltages are all default as i can't change them since no boot. http://secure.newegg.com/app/WishList.asp?...VIEW&ID=1146986

RGone Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Pull the board out of the case and assemble on insulated surface. Wooden desktop or maybe cardboard. Assemble only the cpu and hsf and one stick of memory futherest from the cpu and maybe the video card to see what happens on the screen. During the time you are removing the board and assembling out of the case. "Have the battery out of mobo" and have the cmos jumper jumpered to the clear position. Only when you have had the battery out for an hour or so should you try to replace it and jumper cmos to the run position and try to boot up. Wait with battery out at least an hour. I do not know the 'symptoms' of a sempron installed on 'non-sempron' supporting bios. Have never heard anyone say. It could be the sempron causing the long beeps because now with the way the Phoenix/award bios works the first beep out of the box means many many things including bad cpu. The beep codes do NOT follow the old beep code protocol. If the symptoms change when you pull from case and do minimal install let us know. Oh yes and if it boots by all means go into bios right side of menu screen and load optimized defaults and reboot before trying anything else. RGone...
