Trekmaster Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 (edited) ok one dilema.... i have a Prometeia cpu Freezer tower and it works great with my amd athlon XP 2800+ barton processor. There is just one problem.. I have no clue on how i can overclock my processor. I know i am new to the OC world but i was hoping that some of you might be able to help me. Just for a little side info here is the stats of my computer: motherboard-ASUS a7n8X deluxe, CPU-AMD athlon XP 2800+ Barton, RAM- 1.5GB DDR 3200 (400 MHZ), vid card- Nvidia FX 5600 256 MB DDR, Hard Drive, MaXtoR 120 GB ata 133 7200 rpm, sound- SB AudigyPlatinum 2, OS Win XP. If those system specs give any insite on how bad i want to oc my computer, you know how big of a deal this is for me. If you don't know what the Prometeia tower is you can check it out HERE. I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me any insight on this. This is Trekmaster signing out. RVE Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Do you know how to enter your BIOS? I'm not exactly sure how it goes on your Asus mobo but most comps have a screen pop up during boot up that says like "Press F2 to enter setup" or something along those lines. Anyway, your manual for your Asus mobo should be able to tell you. All the Multiplier and FSB controls are in the BIOS.

Trekmaster Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Yeah, I've been playing around with the multipliers in the bios since i got the thing, funny thing is that i just cant get it to boot after i set the multiplier higher than what it's supposed to be. Trakfast11 Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 how much higher are you setting the muliplier over the stock settings? you need to adjust the vcore with your overclock in order to be able to post at a higher freq. and what happens when you put the multiplier lower than stock settings? justinal Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 up the fbs until it becomes unstable then up the vcore to make it stable then up the mul a little when you try to up the mul you might have to drop the fbs down a few hertz
