Vampire Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 If I was able to get a 300mhz celeron, 5 gig hdd 64mb ram running linux 9.5, would that be good to be a server for 2 computers at home for networking? I would want to share internet (only 56k <_< ) and share files. Is it good enough? I heard linux doesnt need good specs to run well. ukmike02 Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Thats fine. I have a celly 533MHz, 128MB RAM, 2 x 4.3GB Hard Disks, 1 x 10/100 NIC, running Linux Mandrake 9.1, Apache, PHP, MySQL, Webmin, Usermin, some game servers, file server. Its great, powerfull enough to run all of that and a little more. I would recommend reinstalling linux, try using slackware or debian, they are great for low spec machines.
