Non-RAID S-ATA drivers

Recommended Posts

heres the steps

1. Enter BIOS.

Advanced BIOS Features:

S-ATA or SCSI Card Boot = S-ATA

Boot Other Device = Disabled

Genie BIOS Settings:

Sil3114 S-ATA Control = SATA

2. copy drivers from DFI CD that came with your board, from folder, typically:

x:SIL3114DRIVERNONRAID (x: = your cd-rom's drive letter)

to a floppy disk.

3.Begin to install Windows 2000/XP.

4. When prompted at bottom of screen, hit F6 and copy the appropriate driver from the floppy.

my question is where do I find them on the installation cd ? remember I'm not looking to set up a RAID configuration I have one sata drive only

ok followed your steps but I'm still getting this error ...BTW I asked about the drivers in the first place because of this error message generated by SiSoftware Sandra heres the message .Should I be concerned?

Warning W3104 - Current transfer mode not optimal, i.e. not highest supported. This affects drive performance. If the controller is also capable of the highest supported transfer mode, there is no reason not to use it.

Fix: First check controller supported transfer modes. Then check the mode the driver for the controller/BIOS is set to use and modify; some default to a lower mode for compatibility. You may need to install newer drivers if the current drivers do not natively support the controller (especially for RAID). You may need to update the controller BIOS or drive firmware, if the mode does not stick. If data corruption occurs verify the cable and consider switching (if any) drives on the same channel onto other channels.

its not an error...its a 'suggestion'.

i never listen to sandra's 'suggestions' as they are usually wrong.

i always get those warning signs that say 'this test might not be running optimal' etc.

you can also check for drivers on Si's site. They probably have newer drivers than teh DFI site does.
