cssuk Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 make sure the dvd is the master drive on the jumpers, dvds seem to have issues being set to cable select especially so if its a writer as well
Angry_Games Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 check firmware also, and let us know if you are using the NVidia IDE drivers or not (NV IDE drivers sux and cause problems with IDE hdd, cdroms/dvd/cdrw/dvdrw)
flstudio2496 Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 No my dvd drive and cd burner are two different drives...how do I get to the firmware? whats that?
Poisonsnak Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 The firmware is basically like the bios for the drive, you have to flash it much like you flash the bios for your motherboard. It should be available from the manufacturer's website. Have you tried different cd-burning apps? I always have issues with the built in windows drag'n'drop cd-burning deal. Also try connecting the CD burner as secondary master and leave the dvd drive disconnected (temporarily) and see if the crashing goes away. Angry_Games Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 means that it dont like two optical drives on the same channel...or it doesnt like how you have them jumpered. keep messing around with them, set the in opposite (ie if its master make it slave etc). Fool with the jumpers (if you have master/slave try Cable Select). Set an optical on each channel behind a hdd (since your sig doesnt have any detail i have no clue exactly what is in your machine. You should read the Important Info sticky as it tells you exactly why you need a sig that has specs in it with as much info as possible)
