NightLife Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 When i bought my motherboard and booted up with retial bios.. it displayed cpu fan at correct speed.. 2650-2700rpm ..now that i updated to LPPRO875B0409 bios.. on boot screen it shows 5000-5400rpm?!?! after i load to WINXP and load hwdoctor.. it shows correct speed of 2650-2700rpm again.. bios glitch? speaking of glitches.. would DFI be adding any of those 14x multiplier unlocks like asus does for its canterwood boards? Angry_Games Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 would DFI be adding any of those 14x multiplier unlocks like asus does for its canterwood boards? these are only for FMB1.5 Prescott cpu's (3.4 or higher) on socket775 motherboards. All socket 478 cpu's are hardlocked by Intel. (unless you know something we dont?) is the bios you flashed to a beta bios or a retail bios (and what is the date on it?) NightLife Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 HI AG, i stated the bios i was flashing in my first post already my friend.. and its also on my signature ..now that i updated to LPPRO875B0409 bios .. on boot screen it shows 5000-5400rpm?!?! after i load to WINXP and load hwdoctor.. it shows correct speed of 2650-2700rpm again.. thats what the bios is registered as the latest bios on the support page..(unless you know about a newer bios i dont?) and I wasnt referring to the socket 775, i was refferring to my other PC... Asus P4C800e Deluxe.. thier new bios allows us 3.4E Prescott users to unlock 18 to 14... maybe you should go have a look at the xtremesystem forums ... it would be a nice feature to add into us 875 Lanparty owners.. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=42810 bios can be found here http://www.asus.com/support/download/selec...d18.zip~zaqwedc Motherboards supporting CPU Lock Free: P5 Series (LGA 775 Socket) / BIOS Version P5 AD2 Premium / 1.007 P5 AD2 Deluxe / 1.004 P5GD2 Premium / 1.006 P5GD2 Deluxe / 1.004 P5GD2 Pro / 1.005 P5GD2 / 1.003 P5GD1 / 1.005 P5GD1 Pro / 1.003 P5GDC Deluxe / 1.004 P5GDC-V Deluxe / 1.004 P5P800 / Coming soon P4 Series (Socket 478) / BIOS Version P4C800-E Deluxe / 1018 P4P800-E Deluxe / Coming soon P4P800 SE / Coming soon P4P800-X / Coming soon P4GD1 / Coming soon CPU compatible with CPU Lock Free Prescott LGA775 CPU (Performance/04B) 800MHZ FSB, 3.4GHz, 3.6GHz, 3.8GHz, 4.0GHz+ Prescott Socket 478 CPU (FMB1.5) 800MHZ FSB, 3.2GHz, 3.4GHz+
Angry_Games Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 i go by dates on bios not the #'s (since i see a large amount of bioses on all the boards). i doubt we will add the lock-free option on the s478 boards but you never know. NightLife Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 lol ok.. let me try to be more clear next time. bios page... http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bio..._FLAG=A&SITE=US and this bios here.. Angry_Games Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 so...on boot it shows incorrect speed but once into windows it shows regular speed? is it causing a problem or something to not work correctly?
NightLife Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Yup On Boot it shows incorrect speed and in windows it shows proper speed.. telling me its a DFI bios problem.. and everything is still working correctly.. but to pay $230CAD for this motherboard and giving DFI the benifet of the doubt instead of buying another stable P4C800E-Deluxe that works like a charm and has newly updated bios every month or so.. it would be nice to have a glitch free board.. for a company that advertising its products as the best.. I'm only hoping it stands up to its claims..
Angry_Games Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 could be just your Zalman...ive plugged in 4 different fans and they all report correctly in bios and in Winbond HW Doctor Thermaltake Smartfan2 80mm adjustable Enermax 92mm adjustable SVC special ($1.99 80mm) Antec blue LED 80mm all the headers report RPM correctly upon boot and in windows for me...you have tried a different fan to make sure? plugged the zalman into another header to see if readings are the same? stevez Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I also have this fan mounted and noticed exactly the same thing. Looks like it could be a thing with this particular fan.
sheltot Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I see the same thing on my uncle's machine with a Zalman, but also with the Panaflo on my machine on a Thermalright SP-94. However, I really don't care as HW Doc shows proper speed.
