Uncle_Sam Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Hey guys i was just wondering if somebody overclocked a 3700+ on a Lanparty UT nf3 250gb. I think about to get maybe a 3700+ DTR. I thought about using Watercooling with the BlackIce II Radiator and a L30 II Hydro pump. My goal would be to let the CPU run like 12 x 240 / 250 which will be around the 3ghz. The question why I ask is, i had a 3400+ NewCastle here which overclocked very very bad, couldnt even get 220mhz fsb stable to run. It was clocked 12x200 and I have bad feeling about getting actually more out of a 12x200. I m open for any ideas.
Guest eva2000 Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 New 3700+ 1MB cache cpu plugged into DFI NF3 250Gb. Seems DFI's temp sensor is reporting cooler temps fro 3700+ than my 3400+ Newcastles. New cpu idles at 31C and 47C load. AMD64 3700+ 1MB cache ADA3700AEP5AR CAAXC 0434RPAW @1.55v + 113% vcore in bios Very promising cpu indeed But I doubt you'd get 3ghz on water, you'd probably need sub zero cooling for that. I only had my 3700+ installed for less than 18hrs so who knows
Uncle_Sam Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like it will be a challenge, but i m looking forward to it .

Uncle_Sam Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 I understand the part of showing hardware and stuff.... i just have the problem its still changing every day. I need to wait til i have the System Ready and not an open tower where the parts switch. So please be a little bid patient until i have my Setup complete. Uncle_Sam Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Ok i just think i will go with a 3400+ DTR. My goal will be to let the CPU run @ a 240mhz fsb what should be around 2,64ghz. For only 100mhz more i dont want pay a difference of 200 bucks +. And who knows i might be able to get a real 250mhz fsb out. In the next 2 weeks i guess i have my stuff complete and then will post again with the results.
Guest Byron Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 I am hoping someone can help. I have spent countless hours trying to get this thing stable. I cannot run prime longer than 20 minutes in all the configurations I have tried. I have not messed with any of the DRAM settings with the exception of the CPC feature. Which does not seem to make a difference. I cannot get my configuration to run stable at stock speeds with any of the BIOS's. I am on watercooling and my temps are: CPU 32 PWMIC 35 SYSTEM 34 I can boot with these settings but fail prime right away most of the time. 210x12 VID - AUTO + 104% 215x12 VID - AUTO + 110% 220x12 VID - AUTO +110% and +113% I can boot with a few different settings but no matter what I set the FSB, HTT or VCORE/VID, I cannot get a stable run from PRIME95 My max post is 225x12, but again prime fails even with my VID set to 1.80/CPC disabled/DRAM 2.8. I have tried different multi's like 250x10 and 240x11, 240x11.5, all with about 1.7-1.8 VID and most of the time I cannot even post when I do not use 12x multi. I just upgraded from a amd 64 3000+ and was running stable at 230x10, so my memory should support the same FSB w/ proper VID shouldnt it? My mail goal is to first get a stable prime run at STOCK speeds and I have spend too many hours trying to accomplish this. I was able to get stable a stable overclock on my ASUS k8n-e board at 2.52 w/o even messing with the VCORE. Any Ideas before I return this board to FRY's and go back to my ASUS? Oh wait, I cant go back because I sold my ASUS on ebay alreay. All the reviews I read indicate this board to be the best overclocking board on the market and I have yet to see it. I cant even get a stable UNDERCLOCK w/ default settings. I am sure with some proper settings I can achieve a great overclock... Winston Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 I'm experiencing Prime problems also at the moment I'm running a 3700 on the DFI also No problems at stock i don't think but a little overclock and it fails everytime
Guest Byron Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I am experiencing these prime failures with every bios available at stock speeds. With optimized defaults loaded. I have talked to tech support and they say that the board is probably ad. This cant be possible, can it? Prime95 at stable stock speeds is all I ask. Soneone help before I waste more time dismantling this board and getting a new one and hooking it up to see the same failure. RGone Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 ...you probably should have started your own thread with questions specifically to your problems and that might have taken it to the level of recognition. But since I told you by email that I would find jess1313's very good memory settings primer> I will post that here. jess 1313> basic what are the ram timings on UT 250gb? I found it very useful. upgraded from a amd 64 3000+ and was running stable at 230x10, so my memory should support the same FSB w/ proper VID shouldnt it?Since you ask that in the form of a question; I will answer it as if a question! 230x10 is only 2300mhz and that 3700+ starts at 2400Mhz and I see one of the settings you have tried is 2700mhz total. And the memory controller is in the cpu and not on the board as was previous to AMD's A64 line and so swap cpu and you get a different memory controller as well. So no I would not presume that the memory you are running could make the jump to a faster processor that by and large you want to run a good deal faster than the 2300mhz the memory previously seemed to work with. Oh yes the memory may be running at the same speed but the amount of stable transfers it has to make at an elevated cpu speed is a good deal more demanding. I would memtest the memory individually and in various slots to ascertain the best combination and to determine if the memory is truly working well at the level of this processor and go from there. Sincerely, RGone...
