puppetmasta Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Does anyone know what the major differences between the slk-947U and the sp-97 are? I've seen both used by many in these forums and was just curious if anyone had some input on which would be best. Does one fit on the lpb better than the other? Is there anything else I should know before deciding?

puppetmasta Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 ok, so it sounds like the sp97 would be the best choice since it cools better than the 947. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the advice! The sp97 is nothing short of spectacular. Though i've never used the 947. For all you 64bit people ... have you seen the x12? I'm not sure how well it works because of the dead spot associated with a 120mm but the chip is off to the side so maybe that solves the problem. uwackme Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I think the deadspot issue can be resolved by how you go about attaching the 120mm fan to the XP120.... getting creative here could have benefits. I'd esp like to see the 120mm fan in the side door with a duct to the SP120!!
Black99RT Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I have the sp97 and smartfan2 on my nf7 1700dlt combo. I run 2.48ghz all day at 1.775v. I ferget how many watts it is, but its a lot for air. Prime load temp was like 43C. Very impressive cooler. It is the ONLY air cooler I would recommend for a serious OC'er.
Angry_Games Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 there's honestly very little difference in the SP-97 and the SLK-947U (I have many many 947's and had the SP-97 on my LanParty NF2B). VERY LITTLE difference. well one big difference you can still find SLK-947's floating around for sale.... good luck finding the SP-97 for sale (ask Col Howard what he went through to find a single one...which really probably was the very last one for sale in the Americas)
