Guest TURK Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 G'day I have a SuperMicro server case, with the 3.5 floppy bat at the top, and I've just installed my new LanParty Pro 875B in the box. Problem I now have is, I can't find a floppy cable long enougth to reach! Any ideas? preferbly a UK site, but if I have to, I'll order one from the US. Thanx
Poisonsnak Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 The only place I could find it: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...66971&CatId=730 they ship to Canada so probably they will ship to the UK also. It may not work though it has the old-school 5-1/4" connectors on it as well. It appears to be rounded for short stretches... hehe it looks a little ghetto though you may just want to ditch the floppy drive and use bootable cds
red930 Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Be careful what you wish for… Turk The official maximum length of a Floppy cable is 24 inches. The length is dictated by the timing of the signals. I have used a hand made cable that was 27 inches long. Actually it started at 31 inches but I was having trouble getting reliable reads and writes on a floppy drive that worked fine with a 10 inch cable. 27 inches would have allowed for a nice neat installation. I ended up cutting the cable an inch at a time until I could get the floppy to work properly.
