Corsair Ram Issue with DFI NF3

Recommended Posts

I seem to be having a very strange issue with my ram.

I have 1 gig of Twinx 2.512 Corsair XMS 3200 Low Latency Ram. If I clear my CMOS and try to boot with this ram installed it will not boot. The couple of times I've had to do this I had some Kingston Value Ram here to boot with. Seems like a strange issue since it works just fine after the first boot upon clearing the CMOS.

Any ideas?

 for answer to:

Any ideas?

The board does not like "that" memory at default settings that are there after a clearing of the cmos. Booting it up with other memory after CMOS clears lets the board boot up at the specs of the 'other' memory you install to get it up and booting. Once on those settings of the other memory > you get to proceed onward.

I don't or can't think of any work around in my head at the time. To use that memory that does not want to boot after cmos clearing> will always likely require some other stick to get it up and going first. Other memory likely will not act that way. But in this day and age of puterdom, who really knows? Hehehe.

Mine are revision 1.1 as well, what little attempts at overclocking I've attempted the ram has been holding it back. I tried 3-3-3-10 and upon reboot the system kept beeping like there was a ram issue. Earlier tried using a divider and got it up to 220 before I had issues that was at 2-2-2-6.

Maybe the board is a little finicky? I still have my RMA from newegg, I could just return it and get a new one to make sure.

...that part about the board being picky does not hold up as well now as it used to do because "now" the memory controller is in the cpu. And where before buying or RMA'ing a mobo to get the different controller that was in the bridges on the board> now you would have to RMA the cpu.

This is a brave new world that is out there and the attention to details and "luck of the draw" are even more needed than ever before. It is now a days going to cost a good deal more to play like an overclocker for sure. I just had to 'buy' a cpu to try and go faster instead of a ~$100ish mobo now it is a cpu of ~$200-300ish cpu. Brave new world. HEhehehehehehe.

Sincerely, RGone...
