WeStSiDePLaYa Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 well i was banned from from extremeoverclocking.com forums just now. they have a rule that says that you cant post a pic of a women anywhere, even in your avatar or sig. and i mean all pics not just sexual suggestive ones. to have a woman in your sig you must get it approved by jason the admin. and he denied my sig. yes the sig that you see below was denied because of the picture of the woman in it. but what makes this unjust is that you can post any picture of a man with prior authorization or restraint of anykind. so i created a thread asking why this is and said that that is called be sexist. the first one was deleted. so i created a 2nd. and also created a pole, and eveyone who managed to vote in the poll before it was close agreed with me. the reason i did that and questioned them as i absolutly HATE when people are sexist, prejudice, racist, or who make fun of others because of things like that. I believe it is very harmfull to society to have things like this continue on. does anybody have any comments, or have any ideas about how i can bring some light to this and get some pressure on EOCF to change the sexist rule? Budster Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I know what you are saying but i think its like playing in their sandbox. Its their sandbox so there for their rules. The constitution doesn't count on a forum. It is like a dictatorship. What the forum admin says is law.

THunDA Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I guess I understand where your coming from.. But like Bud said its there sandbox and what they say goes.. Even if its silly they have the right to do whatever they want with their forum and its just up to us to follow the rules for any forum if we want to post at any given forum .. I would assume they have their reasons for this rule and every rule in their rule book..
platdragon Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 "the US Consitution does not apply in this forum, nor any other forum. When the US Government foots the bill for it, or any branch of federal, state, or local government, then the Constitution applies. Any private forum (and that applies to 99.9% of all forums on the internet) has their own set of rules and they do not have to mind the Constitution in that respect. just thought I would give you a bit of government info since momma has taken government in college and is in fact currently enrolled in a government course at Boise State University. now back to your regularly scheduled programming (since free speech within limits is Angry's law around here, even if Angry doesn't agree with what you say) " thid is a quote from AG from the thread AG/RG, read this. I know it seemes strange but when in Rome.... I have a lot of strange things in my travles across the US and Aisa. (Japan, Phillipines and S.Korea ) and my wife is from the Phillipines and I still do not understand some of the things she says or do but I lived in the PI for 3 years and started to understand some of the customes that they have that I never seen or heard of before. It is unfourtiant (sp) you got baned.
Col.Howard Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 As a website administrator, I'm inclined to agree with other site admins....it IS their sandbox, and in the 505, if people have a problem with our rules, we ask them to leave. We keep our rules for a reason...which benefits all.
WeStSiDePLaYa Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 yes but when does that give someone the right to be sexist?
Budster Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Ummm. I think you might be letting them get to ya. No sense letting someone "live rent-free" in your head. I'd just let it go and say good riddance. Just a suggestion
platdragon Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 What do you mean by sexist? If I rember correctly the admin is a guy. Now I could see the ladies complaing if the avatars were only geared to the male population of the forums. Now they might had complantes about the photos/ avatars of the female type and just decide to limit them to only being pre- approved. Who knows.
Angry_Games Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 rules are rules...instead of fighting with the admin/mods about them...why not just follow them? around here...ill take into consideration what the pic or subject is about...but the girlie sigs i dont tolerate around here as there are women that browse these forums (and *gasp* even post) but mostly they dont have anything to do with support of a computer. dont rock the boat when you aren't the captain in other words...
