G|-|ost Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I recently picked up a second stick of RAM to complete the gig set, and trouble began. So here is the situation - system in sig, this is what it does: When used with ONE stick of RAM, any stick, any slot, it does 250 FSB, tightest mem timings, 100% stable everything - memtest, prime, 3dmark, games. When BOTH sticks are used though - even 215 FSB gives errors in memtest, and anything 3D kicks back to desktop. I've been using memtest as the main tool for testing, because this is before winblows, so fewer things to worry about. I tried many BIOSes, including all of the modded ones, no difference. I tried all Vdd, Vdimm, AGP settings, CPC on/off, disabled lan, sound, pretty well any possible BIOS setting and still no difference. Single channel also produces memtest errors, and I mean lots of them. Fans above RAM, NB, SB, AS5 on NB with stick HS. Currently running DC @ 200 FSB - no errors or problems of any sort at all. This scenario goes completely against everything I learned about the NF2 platform, and makes NO sense at all. What the he11 is this boards problem? If anyone can help me solve this one, I will seriously buy you a beer or any drink of your choice for that matter!

Chevelle Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Im having the same problem also. I can run my BH-5 (2x512MB) one stick up to 250FSB all completely stable. Tried each stick, both ran up to 250FSB stable. But when I tried DC, its a no go. I can boot and everything, run games, benchmark. But prime crashes within 36sec every time. Here is my setup: AMD XP-M 2500 1.75v SLK-947U w/92mm Panaflo 56cfm DFI Ultra Infinity 6/19 Bios Mushkin Promo BH-5 1GB (2x512MB) 3.3v ATi 9500NP@9700 418/300 1.5v vGPU 1.74v Antec True430W
soundx98 Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 240x11 with CPC ON in the LPB. But One stick likes slot 1 and the other likes slot 3. yours may like a different combination. may be 2 & 3 and maybe need to swap them between the various slots for highest performance. trial and error brutha. There is very litle difference running them single channel. May be the only solution available to you. You are really pushing the memory controller above 230 with 2x512 and CPC ON. May be the limitation of your board. good luck!
uwackme Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Have you tried tweaking the drivingstrength and slewrate settings? I find DS 6, and SR 7 were needed to make my 2x 512M happy. ABit defaults to DS 3, SR 10 and this really pisses off my sticks. I forget what the "AUTO" default is with DFI. Also more ram puts heavy load on Vdimm circuit, you may need more Vdimm with additional ram than you are used to using with single stick. Ditto Vdd and Vcore to a lesser extent.
