tundra Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Hi Guys, I've been around the computer scene for many years, but am a noob to this cool forum, AMD64's and DFI! I just purchased the rig in my sig, and flashed my bios to the 9/14 revision by Oskar. Upon booting the system and leaving all settings on auto, the mobo seems to recognize my cpu as a mobile and clocks it to 800MHz x 4, 1.1V cpu core  Being a dummy, I had no clue this was happening until after I installed windows, all drivers, and even ran a quick 3DMark2001 SE benchmark. My score was 11,500 so I knew something was very wrong. So I downloaded CPU-Z and found that my FSB and multiplier were all hosed.... Does anyone think I did any damage by running the processor at this incorrect speed and voltage? p.s. Immediately after finding this out, I quickly went into the bios and changed the mutiplier to 10x, FSB stayed at 200, CPU Vcore was set to 1.5V. Did a quick boot up, and CPU-Z showed my system MHz to be 2000 (phew). Ran 3DMark01 with totally stock settings and got a 22,300 (yay!) Are there any other settings I'm missing to run my cpu safetly? tundra Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Cool dude, thanks! So you don't think I hosed anything up my running the cpu at low volts and clocks for a bit? (new system and I'm definitely being paranoid, hehe )

(new system and I'm definitely being paranoid, hehe ) no im sure you didnt:shake: a similar thing accures when Cool 'n' Quiet is enabled, it dropped the multipier down, and lowers the vcore. So im possitive your ok, even so, i dont think that lower clocks and Voltages together can have any negative affect(exept slowing down your system of course:nod: ) -Jess-

Mobile/DTR's and regular CPU's with IHS? This is not the same as the desktop versions, as the DTR version has a few gate improvements, which is supposed to provide for better thermal and power characteristics compared to its desktop big brother. so, can somebody explain these so called "better thermal and power characterictics" ? whats the vcore on these DTR's? Better cool and quiet features or something? thanks

C'n'Q should work the same on them, as it does with the desktopers:) -Jess-
HermS Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Hi, I've just taken delivery of very similar stuff, NF3 UT and a 3400+ DTR. I too found that it defaults to 4 x 200, however when i try to change my multi to 10 or 11 it will not POST unless I clear the cmos which undoes the change to the multi. I have the 914 bios by Jess ready on disk but really wanted to make sure it was all running fine at default speeds before I flashed the bios. Is there a chance that Jess's bios will allow me to change that multi and make it past POST? or is there something wrong here? *edit* ignore me, I'd forgotten to change voltage from auto
