dacompmandan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 This one will keep you scratching your head. I have been having mega trouble with my LAN Party NFII Ultra B board for about 4 weeks now, and it finally has offically pissed me off. Out of nowhere, I turn it on now, and everything starts but the monitor doesn't I have tried... -unplugging, and reconnecting all wires -changing power supplies -changing ram sticks -change monitor -change video cards -reset CMOS (but all I get after that is the monitor turns on as I hit power, then shuts off -even swapping processors If you think my motherboard is dead, I have a question... would I RMA it to my place I bought it from (newegg) or do I send it to DFI, and what happens if I don't have the case for it anymore? Thanks, you guys have helped me through all of this... It's so nice to have this great support. I gaurentee that nobody could match this like DFI has done.
Oldfaht Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Beating your head against the wall = NO FUN! Symptoms sure seem to indicate corrupted bios and/or cold boot issues. But looking at your other post it could very well be a dodgie CPU, What have you tried other than the 3000? My suggestion would be to contact AG or RG and see about getting a new bios chip "well" flashed to 6/19 and/or see about rma on your CPU. I've been seeing lots of odd things being posted about the 3000/3200 XP's on these boards. Hope you get things sorted! EDIT: Have you tried holding down the insert key when powering up, loading optimized defaults, then reseting things from there? dacompmandan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 I know, beating my head against the wall didn't help... well, it did help the stress, but it gave me a headache. I tried putting a 2400+ in there to see if it was the CPU, and It still wouldn't boot. I am in the process of putting the 3000+ in my 2400+ computer (which it is supposedly compatible). I'll get back to you guys
wez Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 "but all I get after that is the monitor turns on as I hit power, then shuts off" Is it always like that or is it just after that you reset bios ?
dacompmandan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 that would be only after I reset bios... and it didn't do that everytime, but it did do it quite often in my many attempts to reset bios
Emil Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 It seems you know what you're doing and it would be safe to speculate that you did so much more than what you wrote.... WWHHEEEEEWWW !!!! I guess a bios flash would be in order, but that would be quite difficult/impossible without a monitor. I f you have an extra preprogramed bios chip, then that would be great. Perhaps an RMA to the dealer you bought from would be less painful...... Good luck !!!!!
dacompmandan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Just to let you know, I tested the 3000+ in my 2400+ computer, and it works... I'm guessing it is the bios... I can't really RMA it because it is over 30 days
Angry_Games Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 is this a 200FSB 3000+ or a 166FSB 3000+
dacompmandan Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 this would be the
wez Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 i would say its the bios thats corrupt, e-mail DFi and ask them nicely if they can send you a new bios chip, thats better then RMA the hole board i think.
Guest Hellfire Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 IT could either be that your bios is corrupt or that you may have fried your video card, but most likely you probably just dorked your bios. Try letting it clear overnight and don't worry you can RMA to Newegg b/c they provide 1 year warrenty on all their parts so you can justs exchange it for a new one. dacompmandan Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 now when you talk about letting it clear, should I just leave it without power or battery for a couple days, or do I have to take it out. I don't have the proper tool to do that... I have let it sit overnight, but I'm not sure if all the power was off.
